Geneva, Switzerland — November 14, 2022
Medimaps — the creator of TBS® (Trabecular Bone Score®), the global standard in bone microarchitecture assessment — today announced that TBS Osteo™ — a surrogate of bone microarchitecture boosted by AI — is now available on diagnostic platforms from OsteoSys Co., Ltd., the leading bone mineral densitometer brand in Korea and the third-largest supplier of DXA scanning equipment worldwide.
TBS Osteo™ is available on OsteoSys’s Primus Whole Body DXA, the company’s high-end DXA scanning product. The agreement expands worldwide access to Medimaps’ technology for clinicians across Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Medimaps has obtained a CE 2797 mark for TBS Osteo™ and FDA 510(k) clearance in the US, and the software is cleared in more than 60 countries worldwide, including Japan and South Korea. TBS® is also reimbursable in the US and some European countries, and Medimaps is working toward reimbursement in Japan and Korea. TBS® is recommended for use by many local, national, and international medical societies, including in Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States, China, and Japan.
" Bone structure is just as important as bone mineral density (BMD) when diagnosing and treating osteoporosis. Along with BMD, TBS Osteo provides a more complete picture of patient fracture risk. We see TBS Osteo as a viable option integrated into our DXA scanners to address osteoporosis, a health concern that is growing rapidly as the worldwide population ages."
said Dr. Young-bok Ahn, CEO and founder of OsteoSys.
"Our proprietary and patented technology is empowered by a deep learning, multi-layer approach, which makes it applicable across a wide spectrum of image modalities and resolutions. TBS is demonstrating diagnostic accuracy improvement for primary and secondary osteoporosis, in both females and males, and appears sensitive to changes over time resulting from effective treatment (with TBS increasing) or continued bone loss in the absence of effective treatment (with TBS decreasing). Because it is seamlessly integrated into BMD assessment, TBS can be applied across a number of clinical settings, ranging from opportunistic X-ray-based screening to patient risk profiling and presurgical evaluation."
said Prof. Didier Hans, CEO and co-founder of Medimaps.
Osteoporosis is a condition of primary concern among aging patient populations. Patients at risk for osteoporotic fractures often receive a BMD assessment, which measures the quantity of bone but not its quality. TBS Osteo™ works alongside BMD and clinical risk factors to analyze bone microarchitecture as an assessment of bone quality. Within moments, the software provides practitioners with an easy-to-interpret score to quickly identify and classify patients’ fracture risk and implement a course of intervention. The technology uses the same images already acquired for BMD assessment, digital X-ray, or projected CT imaging, so patients are not exposed to additional radiation, and it integrates seamlessly into a physician’s clinical workflow to deliver a completed structured report.

About Medimaps
Medimaps (Medimaps Group SA) is a medtech AI company on a mission to help clinicians catch what routine imaging misses — every scan, every patient — for better care, building toward an era where healthy bones are the norm.
The creators of Trabecular Bone Score® (TBS®) — the global standard in bone microarchitecture assessment, cited in more than 35 international clinical guidelines and supported by 1,600+ peer-reviewed publications — Medimaps develops imaging software that helps clinicians see bone quality, not just bone density, and predict fracture risk from the imaging they already perform.
Following its merger with Radiobotics, an award-winning Danish MedTech company, Medimaps is building a clinical portfolio spanning the MSK care continuum — from TBS Reveal™, opportunistic bone fragility assessment from routine X-rays, to TBS Osteo™, for osteoporosis fracture risk assessment on DXA, to RBfracture™, designed to support emergency and radiology teams with detection of trauma-related findings on X-ray.
Medimaps is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with offices in Denmark, France, and the US, with technology deployed in more than 90 countries. Medimaps is certified to ISO 13485:2016 and MDSAP. Learn more at medimaps.ai.
