TBS · DXA

The global standard for osteoporosis fracture-risk assessment. TBS Osteo™ adds bone-microarchitecture analysis to your routine DXA scan — no extra radiation, no workflow disruption.
Overview
While DXA measures BMD — an important indicator of fracture risk — it doesn't capture the full picture. Bone microarchitecture, the internal structure of bone, is an independent determinant of bone strength and helps identify patients who would otherwise be missed.
Adding TBS® to DXA can help identify up to 30% of patients at risk of fracture classified as osteopenic by BMD alone.1
Osteopenic bone density
TBS® reveals the fracture risk BMD alone can miss
Benefits
While DXA measures BMD, an important indicator of fracture risk, it doesn’t capture the full picture.
Clinical confidence
Beyond bone density
Improves fracture-risk assessment beyond BMD to support more confident decisions, especially in normal or osteopenic BMD and secondary osteoporosis.
Seamless integration
No new workflow
Fully integrated TBS® reporting across connected DXA systems — no added scan time or radiation. Results are sent to PACS as a DICOM structured report.
Economic value
Reimbursed care
Supports institutional value through referrals and reimbursement alignment. Reimbursed in the US under four dedicated CPT® codes, billable alongside DXA.
How it works
1
Standard DXA scan
TBS Osteo™ analyses routine spine BMD images. No additional scan or radiation required.
2
Automatic TBS analysis
TBS® is computed automatically from the DXA image to assess trabecular bone microarchitecture.
3
Instant structured report
An easy-to-interpret, editable report combining BMD, FRAX® and TBS®, delivered to PACS.
US reimbursement
TBS Osteo™ is reimbursed in the US and can be billed alongside DXA when ordered by a referring or treating physician.
Coverage may vary by payer, plan, and region.
