In development

Bone quality, before you operate

Surgical planning deserves bone quality, not just bone density. TBS Ortho™ is under development to provide pre- and post-surgical bone assessment for orthopedic planning.

Overview

Fragile bone raises surgical risk

Bone fragility is linked to increased complications following orthopaedic surgery, including implant displacement and surgical failure.

Assessing site-specific bone quality before and after surgery could help surgeons select the right approach and implant for each patient, and monitor recovery.

Objectives

What TBS Ortho aims to do

Assess site-specific bone quality

Evaluate bone microarchitecture at a specific body site before or after orthopaedic surgery.

Support implant selection

Help surgeons choose the best implant according to each patient's bone status.

Reduce surgical risk

Aim to reduce the risk of implant displacement and failed surgery.

Status of development

Promising early results

Early studies using Medimaps' proprietary Texture Research Investigational Platform (TRIP) at the knee and lateral spine with DXA show promising results, including implant pull-out analysis. TBS Ortho™ remains a product under development and is not available for clinical use or sale.
